  报告人简介:

  Lailiang Cheng is an associate professor in fruit crop physiology in the Department of Horticulture at Cornell University. He received his Ph.D at Oregon State University in 2009 and joined the faculty at Cornell in 2000. He has published over 50 refereed papers on nutrition physiology of apples and grapes in journals including Journal of Experimental Botany, Planta, Plant and Cell Physiology, Functional Plant Biology, and Plant Physiology. Currently, his research is focused on understanding the role sorbitol plays in regulation of photosynthesis, carbon partitioning, carbon export, and stress tolerance, and physiological mechanisms whereby apple and grapevines deal with nutrient and high light stresses. In addition, his lab is using metabolite profiling to understand 1) the regulatory mechanisms of the integrated nitrogen, carbohydrate, and organic acid metabolism in apples and grapes in response to nutrient supply and other environmental factors; and 2) fruit quality development in relation to primary and secondary metabolism and metabolite composition.
